ARTIST
Dianna Sion

Dianna was born and raised in California. She grew up in the sunny wine country of the San Joaquin Valley and in Sonoma County. She explored the beautiful, rugged beaches and country of the Northern California coast in Bodega Bay, which she still considers her spiritual home.

She earned a two year degree in a Graphics Communications Regional Occupational Program before moving to San Francisco, California to study Fine Art at the Academy of Art College.

Then it was off to New York City to frolic as an artist in the Lower East Village, studying art in the streets and museums and with other friends who would let her sneak into their drawing classes at Pratt Institute on occasion.

Dianna moved to Reno in 1988 and is well involved in the art happenings around town. She is one of the original and still active "dis-organized" founders of the notoriously absurd artist happening in Reno every June; Dada Motel - 2007, Nada Motel - 2008 and this year NadaDada Motel-2009. This "Random Gathering of artists from all over is held at the historical El Cortez Hotel.

Prolific, creative energy is a common occurence in her work. Photography has become one of her favorite ways to interact with her subject matter. She is a mixed media artist and you will typically find pencil work in any art piece she creates, whether it be a drawing, painting or photograph.

Dianna is currently studying Web Publishing, Web Animation and Interactivity.
